Multiple victims in Texas shootings

One person is dead and four others have been hospitalised after two separate shooting incidents in the Texan city of Austin, police say.

Both crime scenes are now secure, Austin police say, after earlier reporting an "active shooter incident".

The shootings happened in the city's entertainment district....

Sad story, but thankfully a rare event around here.

It made the BBC, and was reported in an only slightly breathless-with-excitment-but-trying-to-contain-it tone.

I don't suppose they report on the Chicago/Memphis/Detroit/Baltimore, etc. regularly-occuring multiple shootings?

6th street is returning to the 60s when I lived in Austin and was an unsafe place to be.

Yes, they put the homeless shelter right there on 5th street.

Yes, they put the homeless shelter right there on 5th street.

Then the thugs on 6th have in fact returned.

No different than the last time I was in San Francisco and accosted outside my hotel by a homeless guys who just wanted a few bucks to buy some food.
