Donald Trump filed applications this month for temporary visas for 78 guest workers at his Mar-a-Lago resort and Trump National Golf Club in Florida.According to a Trump interview in September, finding Americans to fill jobs is a monumental task. He told MSNBC’s Morning Joe “getting help in Palm Beach during the season is almost impossible.”The H-2 visa applications include requests for 30 waiters and waitresses, 20 cooks, and 15 housekeepers at the Mar-a-Lago Club, Buzzfeed News reports. He requested another seven waiters and six cooks for his golf club in nearby Jupiter.The jobs he requested pay wages ranging from $10.17 per hour to $11.13 per hour. Trump has made bringing jobs back into America a campaign centerpiece, but earlier reports reveal importing workers is a Trump trend. The resort is only open eight months out of the year because it closes when the southern Florida climate grows too hot for golf. For that reason, Trump claims it is difficult to find American workers willing to fill the service jobs.Palm Beach’s career services center has a database of 1,327 Palm Beach County Residents interested in server, cook, and chef positions. According to owner Tom Veenstra, local hotels have reached out to fill more than 856 of these jobs, but Mar-a-Lago is not one of those hotels.
