After Ted Cruz’s controversial speech at the GOP convention Wednesday – in which he didn’t endorse the GOP nominee – Trump and his surrogates went nuts.
In characteristic fashion, Trump tweeted his thoughts and feelings, indicting Cruz for “breaking his pledge.”
Wow, Ted Cruz got booed off the stage, didn't honor the pledge! I saw his speech two hours early but let him speak anyway. No big deal!

Trump confidante Chris Christie said in an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash that he thought Cruz’s non-endorsement speech was “awful” and “selfish.”
One might ask, “why all the invective?” especially given that Trump himself told Anderson Cooper not so long ago that he didn’t want Cruz’s support, anyways. Trump also made clear he thought little of the pledge.
When asked if he would continue to honor the pledge, Trump responded, “No, I don’t anymore … we’ll see who it is.”

Let’s be honest, nobody much cares about “the pledge” unless it fits their specific argument at a specific time.
Thursday morning Ted Cruz explained to delegates exactly why he did not, and will not, endorse Donald Trump.
