When you go to "soft" targets, you must be aware of your surroundings and that includes your church which is a soft target.  Our Catholic pastor was a sniper in the Army.  I am sure he is armed in church services and I would bet the deacons are armed in case the need arises to protect the congregation.  Of course, this is Texas, so likely numerous church members are armed at all times.

One of the officers murdered last night did volunteer security duty at one of Dallas largest churches.  His name has not yet been released.  Security is there;  you just don't see it.

It is a tried and true political response that deflects the attention from the political rhetoric that inflames such actions, and the inept civic management that creates such hopelessness and despair.  Plus it punishes a political enemy who had nothing to do with the event: rural white guys.

Demorat Liberal/Progressives will always keep those fires burning......so won't the black community overall as they have to have a target to blame for their own failures 'to restrain' themselves and their people from the violence they "choose" to indulge in. They have the exact same FREEDOMS to choose as any other individual in this nation to make right choices.

When fights occur they stand around those they could otherwise help but don't......when violence becomes a "cultural norm" it will always spill outside those communities.....every time. Just as happens whenever they protest.

How many people knew these men were planning this attack on officers? .....How any "danced" at the 7-11 as they learned officers had been shot dead?......Did any of those standing with them stop them? No they did not.

They taunt and get in the face of the police time and again.....they should be arrested immediately...and laws to stop this.  This behavior should not be considered "free speech"....it's not...

I understand your point but the shootings were not part of the protest.  Shootings at movie theaters, schools, night clubs, etc...  The violence was separate.

You don't know that for sure yet.  Could very well be that it was a coordinated effort among the shooters and the BLM instigators.

I agree with that.  As long as concealed carry is allowed, it's a good move.

I still remember Jeanne Assam .....who saved a church-full of folks with her heroism.  What did she get in return?   The church fired her.

He did fit the profile ... right down to the clothes he was wearing and the rifle.  When this happened live, the police asked news outlets to circulate his photo asking him to come in.  He did, and he was cleared.
