And, at least where I am, it's not a dry heat.

Many people don't know that all but 2 of our lakes are artificial

Yes, and the lake at Big Spring doesn't always have water.

It's so hot in Texas even the pageant queens feel ugly.

I'll be here all week...

Lucky you.  What part of the state are you in?  (Not that there's a cool place anywhere).

I had to go look it up to confirm my memory.  It is indeed:  https://timpanogos.wordpress.com/2009/07/20/news-flash-texas-has-a-second-natural-lake/

It's not a lake but we should also claim the Gulf of Texas....

Iowa  ... it's actually cool and rainy today. Nice change.

Jr. year in high school the family stayed at Possum Kingdom lake for a few days as part of a business trip for dad's work. All I remember is that it was hot, and the southern sun would fry you in about 3 hours. But it was also one of the most enjoyable memories of my childhood.

I've got in-laws in Iowa.  I wonder if they'd put me up for a bit.  Like until mid-September?

Unfortunately it's been mid-90's lately and humid. A couple of 100 degree days. Not been fun out working in the garden of late.

I hear that!  I can only handle about 30 minutes at a time working in the yard right now.  Then I have to come in for some more iced tea.

I take my two younger dogs for a brief walk in the morning. When we come back in, I give them a rub down with ice cubes. They love it!

It is so hot in Texas....

(How hot is it?)

... yesterday, I saw two trees fighting over a dog!

...milk cow gave cottage cheese!

...hotter than a fur coat in Marfa.

...hotter than a honeymoon hotel.

...hot as a billy goat in a pepper patch.
