Donald Trump on Saturday turned to his supporters for advice on who to pick as his running mate in the general election.
“Everybody wants to know who I’m going to choose for vice president. Who do you like?” the presumptive Republican nominee asked the crowd at his rally in Tampa.
Among the names offered: former House Speaker Newt Gingrich; Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions; former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Trump held a hand to his ear and pointed at various supporters for the suggestions. Rice seemingly got the loudest applause.
“I’ve never done this before, this is fun,” Trump said. “We have a lot of good people, you’ll be happy.”
Trump on Saturday said it’d be “nice” to have a Republican majority as president, but said he doesn’t care if senators endorse him.
“That’s fine,” he said. “I’m not going to campaign [for them].”
This week, Illinois Sen. Mark Kirk, a Republican who is in a vulnerable position running against Democratic Rep. Tammy Duckworth, said that he wouldn’t support Trump.
