(AP) Horrific stories emerged Sunday about more than 700 migrants who drowned trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea since Wednesday, according to the United Nations refugee agency.

Rescuers saved 14,000 people at sea last week, by far the highest weekly number yet this year, said William Spindler, a spokesman for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees.

“This is by far the busiest week this year in terms of operations, people rescued but also in terms of casualties,” Spindler said Sunday.

So long as The West continues to "rescue" these people, we're writing our own epitaph.

There should be no more rescues.
These boats -- and the "refugees" on them -- should be forced back to where they came. If the boats cannot make it back, they should be left untouched.

Sounds heartless, but this struggle is existential.

But it seems that too many in Western Europe no longer have much of a will left to win, or even to survive.

Within twenty years, we'll know.

This guy saw the future, and saw it right:
