Bono: Refugees Threaten The ‘Very Existence Of Europe’ [VIDEO]

U2 frontman Bono says that the refugee crisis “places an existential threat on European unity” and the “very existence of Europe.”

In an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Tuesday, Bono warned that the refugee crisis could soon harm America, saying, “I know there’s election fever and I can see why people are getting carried away. But the next president might spend his first term not just putting out fires, but you know forest fires if you don’t get on top of this.”

Bono, who took a trip to the border of Somalia as well as to camps that border Syria, said, “I learned from that trip that a lot of this great work could get undone and furthermore, that it threatens the very existence of Europe. And that’s a big thing to lay on you at breakfast, and I know it’s not on the front page of the news here. But the refugee crisis places an existential threat on European unity.”

“I wish I had better news to report and I think it’s something to get ahead of,” he reported.
Bono also penned an op-ed for the New York Times on Tuesday. Under the headline, “Time to Think Bigger About the Refugee Crisis,” he offered solutions to the ever-growing issue, which he believes is better addressed in the migrants’ homelands — before they are forced to uproot their lives — instead of after the fact in countries where they are ill-prepared to assimilate and succeed.

That’s a message most conservatives can agree with.
