The AK-74 uses a smaller (21.4 caliber), lighter round that has a very flat trajectory and produces low recoil from the weapon, allowing for more accurate shot placement. Although the round is far smaller than the AK-47's heavy 7.62 (30mm) standard, it does have a rather nasty feature that Afghans discovered while fighting the Russian army: the 5.45 tends to collapse on its hollow core, mushrooming outward, yawing and flattening upon impact with tissue and bone, causing terrible wound channels.

So, although its diameter is technically smaller than that of a .22LR (which causes far less severe wounds, in most cases), the AK-74 round can be pretty lethal, as we've seen, sadly. A firearms dealer once told me that it was among the best "zombie killers" he could think of, in spite of its size.

Not sure yet if it was AKs or ARs - but I would bet the magazines used were NOT LEGAL IN CALIFORNIA, being more than 10 rounds. Shows you how more restrictive gun laws solve nothing.

The part that fascinates me is aside from all the other points, it is illegal to attack/stab/hit/shoot someone already and that does not seem to stop this stuff.
So we are going to restrict the number of times you can shoot and that will stop this?

I prefer those that insult one at a time. I like to be addressed directly when I'm being insulted. At least it shows some sort of character to insult a person directly.

Those mealy mouthed vague shots at entire groups are done by people with very low character.

He was also registered on Dubaimatrimonial.com, a dating site that is the 'first and only legal marriage service provider in UAE' (United Arab Emirates), according to the website description. In that profile, Farook described himself as being from Karachi, Pakistan, but was born in Chicago and was residing in Los Angles as an American citizen. His religion was shown as Islam.

He also shared his thoughts on living a balanced life as a Muslim-American: 'I try to live as a good Muslim. Looking for a girl who has the same outlook, wear hijab, but live the life to the fullest.'

Public records suggest possible turbulence in Farook's younger life.

In 2006, Rafia Farook, who records indicate is Farook's mother, filed in a Riverside court for divorce from her husband, the elder Mr Farook.

She enumerated multiple instances of domestic abuse in the legal filing, and said her husband 'threatens to kill himself on a daily basis.' During one incident, she said in a court filing, her son came between them 'to save me.'

Rev Bacon picks up on a very interesting detail.  THEY WERE NOT USING AR PLATFORM WEAPONS.  Note media sells AR “style” – they’re manipulating the narrative – here’s why:

Thanks to a Daily Mail Article (HERE) we find a close up picture of a spent shell casing from the San Bernadino attackers:

(Pic Link)  Fortunately this appears to be a specific kind of 5.45 x 39mm shell known to be fired by an AK-74, not the older AK-47.  Lots of Americans have AK-47’s, but very few have the newer, more accurate AK-74.

First, the evidence:

The shell casing on the far right is the casing identified in the Daily Mail picture.  You can see it matches an AK-74 5.45 x 39mm shell casing (3rd from left).

While the perspective differences prevent an exact match without better equipment, it’s clear the round looks more like the one on the right than the other two.

The spent casing is clearly not an AK-47 as was reported, but it’s easy to mistake the two, especially from afar by a non-expert.  They each use the same classic Kalashnikov 30-round magazine with the big curve.

    It’s already pretty hard to get one’s hands on one of these things. If Obama keeps beating the “too easy to get weapons” drum, he’s an idiot. Chances are, these came from overseas, illegally, and were imported by the terrorists.
    It pretty much shows that the terrorists were foreign. There are better guns- more accurate, more easy to get ammo, and easier to get in the US- than this one.
    The [San Bernadino attackers] must have trained on these, so even if they did get them here (not impossible), they did so because of their training abroad. (For example, the AR-10 is more accurate, has a longer range, and is about the same price).

So the point is, we know they were firing AK-74’s.  We know AK-74’s fire specific 5.45 x 39mm shells, and they had to have some familiarity with AK-74 training.
