My wife's been watching and says the police there are in way way over their heads...she thinks they have serious competency issues.  I don't know, but she's pretty adamant on that point.  Very inefficient she says...the Governor is worst of all, she is telling me...

Obama pushes gun control after school massacre
'This is something we should politicize'
Published: 10 hours ago

President Obama wasted no time calling for increased gun-control laws after a massacre at an Oregon community college on Thursday.

At least 10 people died and 20 were injured at Umpquah Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, when an active shooter entered the college at 10:38 PST. Authorities have only described the suspect, who died in a confrontation with law enforcement officials, as a male in his early 20s.

The president embraced the opportunity to politicize the tragedy from the White House.

“So we know there are ways to prevent it. And of course, what’s also routine is somebody somewhere will comment and say, ‘Obama will politicize this issue.’ Well this is something we should politicize,” he said. “Right now I can imagine the press releases be cranked out. We need more guns, they’ll argue. Fewer gun-safety laws. Does anybody really believe that? There are scores of responsible gun owners in this country. They know this is not true. We know because of the polling that says the majority of Americans say we should be changing these laws.”

The president offered his thoughts and prayers to grieving families, but the overall theme of his address was that America must now pass stricter gun-control laws.

“We’ve talked about this after Columbine and Blacksburg, after Tucson, after Newtown, after Aurora, after Charleston. … It cannot be this easy for someone who wants to inflict harm on other people to get his or her hands on a gun,” Obama said.

UCC, which has roughly 3,300 students, has been designated a gun-free zone and has just one unarmed security guard on campus.

Kortney Moore, 18, from Rogue River, told NR Today she was in a writing class when the shooting began. Moore said the shooter asked people their religion before firing his weapon.

Vice President Joe Biden echoed Obama’s remarks while speaking at a global summit in New York.

Biden called for “sane gun legislation” because the Second Amendment doesn’t allow Americans to own “a bazooka,” the Association Press reported.

UCC officials said classes have been suspended at least until Monday because the campus is now officially a crime scene.

Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin told reporters he will not release the name of the suspect at this time.

There is still something we are not being told.  Obama took too long to make one of his patented dumb ass statements in this kind of situation.  With others he was on them like stink on dookie but for some reason waited a long time to make his comment.  When he did, he went out of his way to say this was a shooting by a deranged person which is also unusual.  I'm wondering if this guy wasn't a muzzie sympathizer or a true muzzie and Obama was preemptively  softening the blow if the shooter was.

An Army veteran who survived combat was shot several times as he charged at the Oregon gunman
By Pamela Engel Oct 2nd 2015 7:20AM

Quote
An Army veteran who made it through a combat deployment without sustaining any serious injuries was shot several times as he rushed toward the gunman who opened fire at a community college in Oregon on Thursday.

Chris Mintz, 30, was in his first week of class at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, on Thursday when a man, identified by officials as 26-year-old Chris Harper Mercer, walked into Snyder Hall, where classes are held, and started shooting.

Mintz reportedly tried "to block the door to keep the gunman from coming in," Mintz's aunt, Wanda Mintz, told Q13 Fox News in Oregon.

In 911 tapes from the shooting, a dispatcher said the shooter was "outside one of the doors shooting through the door," according to The Oregonian. The shooting was reportedly confined to one classroom.

After the gunman gained entry to the classroom, Mintz got shot three times, hit the floor, and then looked up at the gunman and said "it's my son's birthday today," according to Wanda Mintz. He then reportedly got shot two more times. ...

Have we heard how this shooter obtained his guns? Of course, Obama spouted off about needing even more gun control before anything was known about the guy. So did he comply with the gazillions of gun control laws already in place?

But, one more should do the trick. Didn't work? Well, then, another and another and another; none of which criminals, terrorists or psychos obey.

But, you and me? We carry the burden ....

Don't laugh....it's a take-off on an old StarTrek episode.....

Everybody over the age of 21 should be allowed or even required to carry/conceal firearms.

If said person(s) commit crimes where there is physical maiming or killing of innocent people, the shooter should be summarily executed.

Oregon community college gunman described as 'timid', 'unfriendly' by various neighbors
Published October 02, 2015
FOX News

A neighbor of the man authorities say killed at least nine people at an Oregon community college Thursday told reporters the gunman "seemed really unfriendly."

Bronte Harte told the Associated Press she lived in the apartment below 26-year-old Christopher Harper Mercer in Winchester, Ore. Winchester is approximately five miles north of Roseburg, where Mercer opened fire in a classroom at Umpqua Community College, killing nine people before being killed in an exchange of gunfire with responding officers.

Harte said Mercer would often "sit by himself in the dark in the balcony with this little light." She added that a woman she believed to be Mercer's mother also lived upstairs and was "crying her eyes out" Thursday.

Harte also told the New York Times Mercer would frequently yell at her for smoking on her apartment's balcony.

"He yelled at us, me and my husband," Hart told the paper. "He was not a friendly type of guy. He did not want anything to do with anyone."

KPTV reported that investigators had sealed off the Winchester complex and had established a search perimeter. Officers at the scene were escorting residents to and from their apartments. A sheriff's deputy told a resident that there was no danger to the community and people living in the apartments around where Mercer lived were able to access their homes.

Authorities were attempting to establish a motive for Thursday's shooting. It was not immediately clear what, if any, connection Mercer had to the college, a two-year school with an enrollment of just over 3,000 students.

Law enforcement sources told Fox News that Mercer's name was being run through watchlists and his email history, phone logs, social media profiles and online history were being checked in an effort to rule out any links to international terrorism.

A law enforcement official told the Los Angeles Times that Mercer was armed with three handguns and an assault rifle when he carried out the shooting. The official did not know whether Mercer fired all the guns, or where and how he obtained them.

Before moving to Oregon in 2011, Mercer lived with his mother in an apartment complex in Torrance, Calif., located just southwest of downtown Los Angeles. Local media reported that neighbors who lived near the pair in Torrance said they often saw Mercer wearing camouflage pants and large, black boots.

Mercer's father, Ian Harper, briefly spoke to reporters outside his home in Tarzana, Calif. late Thursday. He said he had spent the day speaking to police and other authorities. Harper declined to answer any questions about his son.

"Shocked is all I can say," Ian Harper said, according to the Los Angeles Times. "It's been a devastating day.

One neighbor, Derrick McClendon, told the Los Angeles Times that Mercer was "bashful" and "timid", adding that the young man mostly kept to himself.

"I wouldn't have suspected for him to be a troubled person," McClendon said.

Other neighbors told the paper that they sometimes noticed Mercer and his mother carrying matching black cases that appeared to contain firearms. The paper said that some neighbors asked Mercer about the weapons at a community barbeque, to which Mercer responded that he liked to go target shooting.

"I don't know what to say," Carmen Nesnick of Tarzana, Calif., identified as Mercer's stepsister, told KNBC. "I'm shaking right now. He was a nice guy."

Never Let A Crisis Go To Waste: Episode 178

In a lecture filled with lies Barry told us yesterday that mass shootings are “something we should politicize,” as if we haven’t.

A visibly angry Obama blasted Congress for being unwilling to change the nations (sic) gun laws in response to a wave of mass shootings that have cast a cloud over his presidency.

I guess we are all to agree with his flawed logic, submit to his will and by-pass the do-nothing Congress that we elected as stipulated in the Constitution because we need some common sense gun control laws; like repealing the 2nd Amendment. Because, you know, Obama’s Amerika: and we don’t want Barry to look bad.

I don’t know about you, butt I would be more inclined to listen to a President lecture us on “common sense gun control” if he weren’t the president that armed a Mexican drug cartel:

And gave Iran, the single most important state sponsor of terrorism in the world, the go-ahead to build their nuclear bomb. Now that’s something some of us think should be politicized. Because, you know, they’ve announced their intent to annihilate Israel. What a bother. ...

From post 89 above:
[[ Law enforcement sources told Fox News that Mercer's name was being run through watchlists and his email history, phone logs, social media profiles and online history were being checked in an effort to rule out any links to international terrorism. ]]

This should make everyone sit up and take notice.

How long until they start checking YOUR "email history, phone logs, social media profiles and online history" ???

Sounds like EVERYTHING is being recorded these days, en masse.

Some months back, I began posting my proposed "right to privacy" amendment to the Constitution. Here it is, once more, for you to read:
============
Citizens protected by this Constitution possess an inalienable right to privacy in their persons, businesses, and homes, and while they are in public.

It shall be a violation of this Constitution for the United States or for the several States to violate or invade the individual privacy of citizens by use of physical, mechanical, or electronic means or by the use of devices on land, on water, below the ground, or from the air.

This protection shall extend to all lawful communications and acts by an individual citizen or between two or more citizens, including content that is spoken, written, or electronically transmitted. It shall extend to citizens regardless of their location, whether in private or in public.

The only exceptions will be as governed by the Fourth Amendment of this Constitution.
============

Just four short paragraphs that anyone can read and understand.

Do you still believe there is no need for such a "right" in our Constitution, for YOU...?

One of his two connections on a social media site is a Muslim and has numerous jihadi photos on it.

I took it down after posting it, because wasn't sure about the validity of the source.

Oregon Shooter Uploaded Documentaries Of Mass Shootings, Conspiracy Theories, Porn Videos

Posted By Chuck Ross On 7:08 AM 10/02/2015 In | No Comments

The 26-year-old man who killed 10 people at an Oregon community college on Thursday reportedly maintained a short-lived blog where he wrote about two recent high-profile shootings and uploaded a variety of pirated files, including porn videos and documentaries about infamous mass shootings.

Chris Harper-Mercer entered a classroom at Umpqua Community College at around 10:30 a.m. Thursday and began shooting. Witnesses to the massacre said that Harper-Mercer, who was living with his mother in Winchester, asked his victims if they were Christian and shot them if they said they were. Harper-Mercer also died, though it is unclear if police officers shot him or if he killed himself.

Chris Harper-Mercer’s dating profile picture

In one post at Harper-Mercer’s blog, discovered hours after the shooting, the killer seemed to sympathize with Vester Lee Flanagan, the ex-TV reporter who killed two former colleagues during a live interview in Roanoke, Va. on Aug. 26. Flanagan, who was black, wrote a 23-page manifesto claiming that he was the lifelong victim of racism.

Harper-Mercer wrote of the shooting that “I have noticed that so many people like him are all alone and unknown, yet when they spill a little blood, the whole world knows who they are.”

“A man who was known by no one, is now known by everyone. His face splashed across every screen, his name across the lips of every person on the planet, all in the course of one day. Seems the more people you kill, the more your’re [sic] in the limelight.”

He encouraged readers to watch video Flanagan recorded as he shot his two ex-colleagues.

“It’s a short video but good nonetheless,” Harper-Mercer wrote. (RELATED: Did Shooter Tip Off Community College Shooting On This Website?

In another blog post about the recent killing of a Houston-area sheriff’s deputy, Harper-Mercer seemed to disdain violence. The deputy, Darren Goforth was ambushed at a gas station and executed by Shannon Miles. Many speculated that Miles, who is black, was motivated by the Black Lives Matter movement.

“In case anyone’s wondering, I’m not on the side of the suspect, I’m on the side of the officer, and generally don’t agree with the black lives matter protests,” Harper-Mercer wrote. (RELATED: Obama Calls For Stricter Gun Laws After Shooting)

Other content loaded to the site where Harper-Mercer blogged indicates that he was fascinated with violence — including school shootings — conspiracy theories, the paranormal, and pornography.

Earlier this week, the killer uploaded the documentary “This World: Surviving Sandy Hook” about the Dec. 14, 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. The shooter, Adam Lanza, killed 20 children and six adults. Within the past month, he uploaded an interview with Charles Manson and documentaries about the 1999 Columbine massacre and the 2007 Virginia Tech shooting.

He also uploaded numerous back issues of “Phenomena Magazine” about UFOs, ghosts and other paranormal activity. He also appears to have been interest in conspiracy theories, as indicated by titles such as “Lost Secrets of the Illuminati” and “All Wars Are Bankers’ Wars.”

Many of Harper-Mercer’s earlier additions to the site are porn videos and copies of erotic novels.

Harper-Mercer also maintained a MySpace account. One picture on the site shows Harper-Mercer holding what appears to be a rifle. Other photos posted on the page are of members of the Irish Republican Army, many of whom are carrying weapons.

He also maintained a profile on a dating website. Harper-Mercer lists himself as mixed race and also claimed to be a Republican, though none of his posts cover political issues. Among the groups he supported on the site one called “Doesn’t like organized religion.”

Harper-Mercer’s hatred for religion — and Christianity in particular — appears to be the main motive behind the attack.

Anastasia Boylan was inside the classroom in which Harper-Mercer opened fire. Her father, Stacy, relayed her first-hand account, telling CNN that Harper-Mercer entered the room and shot the teacher at point-blank range. After everyone dropped to the ground, Harper-Mercer reloaded his gun and asked Christians in the room to stand up.

“And they would stand up and he said, ‘Good, because you’re a Christian, you’re going to see God in just about one second,'” Stacy Boylan said.

“And then he shot and killed them.”
