(CNSNews.com) – A large number of unaccompanied alien children continue to illegally cross the U.S.-Mexico border as 127 were apprehended per day doing so during the month of June, according to the most recent data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

The latest apprehension report from CBP shows that 26,685 unaccompanied minors have been apprehended at the Southwest U.S. border so far in FY2015, which began on Oct. 1. Of those, all but 409 were from El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico.

By the end of May the total number of apprehended UACs was 22,869, meaning another 3,816 children were caught after crossing the border during the month of June.

Averaged across the 30 days of June, this means about 127 children were apprehended per day last month.

CNSNews.com reported on July 2 that an average of 128 unaccompanied minors were apprehended at the Southwest border each day during May. So far, May is the month with the highest total UAC apprehensions in FY2015, according to CBP monthly data.

The monthly totals of apprehended UACs have largely increased since January, when 2,119 children were caught at the U.S.-Mexico border. Since then, another 2,388 children were apprehended in February, 3,131 were apprehended in March, and 3,275 were apprehended in April.

June had the second-highest apprehension total, with only 149 less apprehensions than in May.

Another 24,901 family units have been apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border in FY2015, down from 55,443 by this point in FY2014.
