Border Patrol agents Thursday took a Middle Eastern man into custody.
The unauthorized immigrant was caught south of Pharr, according to Border Patrol.
The man was transported to the Weslaco Border Patrol station for processing.
An order for expedited removal back to his country of origin is being processed.
The man is in custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Middle Eastern countries are not part of the statistical breakdown of U.S. Border Patrol apprehensions by country of nationality, based on U.S. Department of Homeland Security information from fiscal years 2005 through 2010.
DHS classifies apprehensions of unauthorized immigrants from the Middle East into an "all other countries" category, which make up fewer than 1 percent of apprehensions on average.
Border Patrol did not release other information such as the man's country of nationality.
