California Scheming: Giving Special Privileges to Non-Citizens

By Paul Dowling   / 31 January 2015   / 11 Comments

“Each individual of the society has a right to be protected by it in the enjoyment of his life, liberty, and property, according to standing laws.  He is obliged, consequently, to contribute his share to the expense of this protection; and to give his personal service, or an equivalent, when necessary.  But no part of the property of any individual can, with justice, be taken from him, or applied to public uses, without his own consent, or that of the representative body of the people.  In fine, the people of this commonwealth are not controllable by any other laws than those to which their constitutional representative body have given their consent.”  —John Adams

Americans Don’t Count Anymore

A few years back, when I was helping a student with her college admission, I made a trip to the California State University campus where she was matriculating, in order to enquire about financial aid.  The financial aid counselor was excited by the fact that the student was born outside the United States.  “Is she here illegally?” the counselor wanted to know.  The answer was in the negative; the student had been naturalized and held a US passport.  “Damn,” the counselor said, “and I could have given her a whole lot of money, too, if only she were illegal!”  I was more than annoyed by this revelation.  But surprised I was not, since, for a long while now, if you are a US citizen, you do not count in California.  Americans are discriminated against by government at every turn.

Upside-Down World

January 1, 2015, the California Department of Motor Vehicles instituted a new policy: Illegal aliens are not to be prosecuted for identity theft, as long as the theft was used to obtain a California driver license or identification card, before the new “Driver Licenses for Illegals” law was enacted by California Democrats.  US citizens who have stolen someone’s identity for this same purpose, however, are to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.  This is a law created wholly by Democrats, the party that likes to talk ad nauseum about what is fair versus what is unfair and discriminatory.  Apparently, Democrats think it is unfair discrimination to have laws that allow citizens the privileges of citizenship.  California law becomes more upside-down with every passing day.

Special Order 7

In the City of Angels, only US citizens tend to get their cars impounded.  Due to Special Order 7, issued by LAPD Police Chief Charlie Beck, illegal aliens do not have to suffer getting their cars impounded.  The number of impounded vehicles in Los Angeles, in 2011, was 28,796; but in 2012, that number dropped to only 16,242!  Perhaps the resultant drop in revenue is one of the reasons parking fines in Los Angeles have gone up.  A California judge, on the 2nd District Court of Appeals, has ruled that this discrimination is perfectly legal—although the same court would, no doubt, rule discrimination against any other class of individuals to be unlawful.  Democrat-appointed judges often rule according to their desires, rather than what the law says.  Rule of law hardly exists in California.

Rule of Law: Is It Fair?

Jurists who rule to institute new law, over that which was democratically decided by the people’s representatives, are increasing in number.  Nowadays, you do not even have to be a legal resident of California to be admitted to the California Bar Association, which means illegal aliens now qualify to sit on California courts in judgment of US citizens.  California’s Supreme Court ruled that Sergio Garcia, an illegal resident, should be allowed a state license to practice law.  Judges are dictating new laws on a regular basis, and law-abiding citizens seem to lose out to scofflaw illegals, whose pseudo-rights are upheld, even as the rights of citizens are disparaged.

The Illegal-Alien Voting Bloc

illegals vote 2I find it embarrassing that the Obama Administration prevents a state like Arizona from enforcing US immigration law, saying that it is against federal law for them to do so.  But when California breaks federal immigration law by extending the rights of citizenship to non-citizens, the Obama Administration remains silent.  Perhaps the reason for the double-standard is because Obama is acting in anticipation of a national voter-ID law being enacted in the future.  Traditionally, state IDs and driver licenses have been accepted as documents that prove citizenship.  So, by giving illegal aliens state IDs, it makes it easy for illegal aliens to vote.  Of course, they will vote for the Obama-Democrats who are giving them welfare-state hand-outs.

In the 2012 general election, at least 49,000 fraudulent votes were cast in California.  They were overwhelmingly votes for Democrats.  That number will grow now, as a result of making illegal aliens into de facto citizens.

Could Non-Citizens Choose the President?

In August of 2011, Jerry Brown signed into law the National Popular Vote Plan.  This is a plan where states agree to award their electoral votes to whoever wins the nationwide popular vote in a presidential election, often vetoing the balloting preferences of their statewide electorates!  This means that, if a single large state (such as California) can stuff the ballot box with enough illegal votes for the Democrat, one state’s corruption can, in a close election, actually choose the president.  This would symbolize a triumph of corruption.

As of September 2014, the National Popular Vote Plan had been passed by ten states and the District of Columbia.  Their 165 combined electoral votes add to 30.67% of the total Electoral College vote—or 61.11% of the 270 votes necessary to elect a president.  This law goes into effect in each state passing it, once the combined electoral votes of states passing the law reaches 270.

The Electoral College, which used to act as a check against the nationalization of such corruption (since only a single state would have been affected and not the nation at large), loses its proper role.  According to the Constitution, the states choose the president, based on the popular vote of each state (not the popular vote of the entire nation), since the states created the national government.  (Read more about this issue here: http://eaglerising.com/8067/democrat-corruption-tip-presidential-election/.)

Paradise Lost

In California, Democrats have chosen to write laws that contradict all reason, making unlawful activity legal, but only for one class of people—illegal aliens!  Rule of law is being replaced by the willful stroke of a tyrant’s pen, whether that tyrant finds himself in the governor’s mansion or on a jurist’s bench.  If current trends continue, government of the citizens, by the citizens, and for the citizens, in a California republic, could very well become a thing of the past.

It's a world turned upside-down.

Those who write the laws, are putting the lawbreakers ABOVE "the law".

What next?
