In the course of 24 hours, Texas Gov. Rick Perry delivered his farewell speech in Texas and presented a stem-winder to the Republican National Committee, previewing his domestic and foreign policy vision.

Although talking specifically about Texas, he was really delivering his take on the American dream: “In Texas, it’s not where you come from that matters, it’s where you are going.  Texas doesn’t recognize the artificial barriers of race, class or creed. The most vivid dreams take flight from the most humble beginnings. And so it was for me.”

Perhaps because of the potential entry into the presidential race of Mitt Romney, there has been new focus on candidates’ background and how they relate to ordinary people. Perry made clear just how humble his beginnings were:

It is my sincere belief that Rick Perry would make an EXCELLENT president! Perhaps as good a Reagan!

Let's hope he has a new campaign staff that knows how to work on campaigns more complicated than high school popularity contests.

Perry/Cruz 2016!  An unbeatable team.  :patriot:
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
