On Tuesday, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said she wanted President Barack Obama to enact the "broadest possible" executive amnesty.

In an interview on Univision radio, Pelosi hoped that Obama would give temporary amnesty to the parents of DREAMers and U.S. citizens. Obama is reportedly considering giving temporary amnesty and work permits to millions of illegal immigrants via executive fiat during the August recess.

Pelosi said, according to Fusion's Jordan Fabian:

Quote
It would be my hope that the president's lawyers would advise him on the broadest possible prosecutorial discretion, that would include actions to say that it would extend to DACA for a period, a longer period of time, that it would extend DACA to the parents of the DREAMers, that it would also extend protection to the parents of U.S. citizens, parents who are not, shall we say, fully documented, of U.S. citizens.

Pelosi also reportedly added that she hoped Obama could "roll back some of the discretion in Secure Communities" and said she thought "only those involved in serious crimes or organized crime should be deported."

"Otherwise, we should take our time to, on a case-by-case basis, do what I mentioned before in terms of DACA DREAMers, and safe, secure, Secure Communities," she said.

Pelosi, who has said she would rather have a comprehensive amnesty bill than becoming Speaker again, insisted that "the best thing would be if we passed comprehensive immigration reform."

Even though the number of illegal immigrant juveniles who have been apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border drastically increased since Obama's enacted his temporary amnesty program for DREAMers in 2012, Democrats, especially the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, have been urging Obama to "go big" on more executive amnesty.
