Trey Gowdy Blasts on IRS Commish for Claiming No Criminal Actions: ‘You Don’t Even Know What Statutes Are at Play!’

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) late Monday criticized IRS Commissioner John Koskinen for claiming there’s no evidence of criminal misconduct at the IRS over the targeting scandal, even though he hasn’t bothered to examine the criminal code.
Gowdy said:
“You have already said multiple times today that there was no evidence that you found of any criminal wrongdoing. I want you to tell me what criminal statutes you’ve evaluated.
Koskinen, who looks like a bureaucrat out of central casting, replied:
I have not looked at any.
Then Gowdy lowers the boom!:
“Well then how can you possibly tell our fellow citizens that there’s not criminal wrongdoing if you don’t even know what statutes to look at?”
And:
“How would you know what elements of the crime existed?” Gowdy asked. “You don’t even know what statutes are in play.”
Watch as Gowdy, a former Prosecutor, also schools Koskinen on the willful destruction of evidence and “spoliation.” Incredible.
To think the IRS chief would be this dismissive of serious criminal accusations should send a chill down your spine. The IRS was clearly coordinating with the White House to silence conservative Tea Party organizations… Then an agency which requires you to keep records for auditing purposes — can’t handle its own basic IT needs.
Thank goodness America has Gowdy to stand up for the law and free speech.
