The Tuscaloosa tornado is moving toward Birmingham.  Way too much like April 2011.

Confirmed, large tornado moving toward Birmingham.  Estimated to arrive in roughly 45 minutes if it holds together.

Might be a bit early to be optimistic, but it seems that Birmingham might have dodged a bullet.

The storm started to recycle and weakened.  Hopefully if it will not spin up again, or if it does, it will wait until it is out of town.

My friend in Huntsville, AL, reported around 11 p.m. last night, "Things have settled down here and looks like some of the other storms will probably head east & NE of me. Worst is up near Lynchburg, TN now."

As of right now, there are no tornado warnings, but there are a couple of tornado watches for Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee and Louisiana.

The preliminary rating for the worst of the Arkansas tornadoes is an EF-3.

So thankfully it is quiet at the moment.
