Republicans mock ObamaCare enrollment

By Rebecca Shabad

Republican lawmakers scoffed Wednesday at the enrollment numbers for ObamaCare.

The administration disclosed that 106,185 people enrolled in the new healthcare insurance program during the month of October. Fewer than 27,000 signed up using HealthCare.gov, the troubled federal portal.

Tea Party Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who led the recent charge to defund the law, noted the low figures on Twitter.

The numbers are much lower than the administration's prediction. They had said they hoped to sign 800,000 people up nationwide for the first two months. The Congressional Budget Office projected 7 million people would enroll through 2014.

ObamaCare’s enrollees could fit inside The Pennsylvania State University’s football stadium, one Republican tweeted.

For a short while, some tweeted they had trouble accessing the HHS report detailing the enrollment information.

Only 106,185 have signed up for Obamacare so far. The XFL drew a total of 936,392 fans. Can Obamacare outperform the XFL?

The XFL was a short-lived professional American football league in the early 2000s.

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said the news is good reason for President Obama to honor his promise to keep their current health insurance plans if they like them.
