During an exclusive interview that aired Thursday, Barack Obama told NBC's Chuck Todd he was sorry that people were losing their insurance due to his signature health care law. Later, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, responded on Facebook, saying if Obama was really sorry, he would repeal the law.
"Mr. President, if you're really sorry, then we need a #FullRepeal," he wrote.
"I am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me," Obama told Todd. "We've got to work hard to make sure that they know we hear them and we are going to do everything we can to deal with folks who find themselves in a tough position as a consequence of this."
Obama repeatedly told Americans that “if you like your health plan, you will be able to keep your health plan.”
But that promise -- made even after the president knew better -- has been soundly debunked as a lie. Worse yet, Obama compounded the lie by trying to rewrite history.
"Now, if you have or had one of these plans before the Affordable Care Act came into law and you really liked that plan, what we said was you can keep it if it hasn’t changed since the law passed," Obama recently told starry-eyed followers at OFA. "So we wrote into the Affordable Care Act, you're grandfathered in on that plan. But if the insurance company changes it, then what we're saying is they've got to change it to a higher standard."
Obama admitted Thursday that the administration was not as forthcoming as it should've been, and claimed the millions who received cancellation letters would get better care at a lower cost.
"Keep in mind that most of the folks who are going to who got these cancellation letters, they’ll be able to get better care at the same cost or cheaper in these new marketplaces because they’ll have more choice, they’ll have more competition. They’re part of a bigger pool. Insurance companies are going to be hungry for their business," he said.
But that claim is also questionable, based on the numerous reports from Americans who have found themselves forced into undesirable plans that are much more expensive.
Former MSNBC host Dylan Ratigan, for example, complained that he was being forced into a plan costing $600 per month -- far higher than the $160 he paid for his old catastrophic plan.
In a video posted at Weasel Zippers, one cancer patient who voted for Obama said his new plan is so expensive that he's opting to pay the fine and let nature take its course.
Examiner.com's Chris Collins reported that a husband and wife -- both Obama supporters -- are losing their coverage.

Charles Ornstein of ProPublica reported that Lee Hammack, an architect, and his wife, JoEllen Brothers, are “cradle Democrats” and that both of them have donated to the liberal group, Organizing for America and worked the phone banks a year ago for President Obama’s re-election.
On Thursday, talk show host Rush Limbaugh told the story of a couple considering divorce because of Obamacare.
Obama did hit on the truth at least one time during his interview with Todd.
“Ultimately I think I’ll be judged on whether this thing is better for people overall,” he said, while claiming that only five percent of the population would be affected.
Todd reminded the president that five percent included millions of Americans.
Obama responded by saying that "a whole lot of them are going to be better off" under Obamacare, and he claimed the troubled health care website is "actually working."
