The mainstream media seems to be recovering itself, and it is an ugly thing to see. The New York Times Editorial Board, is as arrogant and condescending as it could be:

Mr. Obama clearly misspoke when he said that. By law, insurers cannot continue to sell policies that don’t provide the minimum benefits and consumer protections required as of next year. So they’ve sent cancellation notices to hundreds of thousands of people who hold these substandard policies. (At issue here are not the 149 million people covered by employer plans, but the 10 million to 12 million people who buy policies directly on the individual market.)

And just like sending the Japanese to concentration camps, robbing a mere ten million of the products they wanted is no big deal to the enlightened bullies at the New York Times. You have to break a few eggs to make an omelet. If we have to sacrifice ten million people, after luring them to sleep with false promises, “to provide 10 essential benefits, including some, like mental health and substance abuse treatment and maternity and newborn care, that are not now part of many policies,” then obviously that was the right thing to do.

There are no ethical boundaries for politicians, you know. We just tell you what the results will be (or so we promise, and you know how much we value keeping our promises) and then we tell you that those results are “better” than what you had before. We declare the policy you wanted to keep “substandard,” and the one we’re forcing you to purchase for a lot more money, full of “essential benefits”—like maternity if you are a man. Oh, and by the way, “premiums may well rise, in part because insurance companies must accept all applicants, not just the healthy.”

That’s not even insurance.

If Obama’s lie that we could keep our insurance was really so trivial, then Obama would never have needed to tell the lie. The fact that he knew he had to vociferously repeat his lie, and personally and persuasively assure viewers that anyone who told them differently was lying to them, proves to everyone who cares to think that the New York Time Editorial Board is making stuff up. They pretend that this is all trouble being stirred up by Republicans or by Conservatives.

That is an obvious ruse. Obama lied and lied heartily because he knew he had to in order to unleash Obamacare on the American people. Now we will see costs go up, quality go down, and the New York Times Editorial Board constantly justifying the destruction on the basis that someone somewhere has this degraded version of insurance when before they didn’t have access to better versions.

The New York Times Editorial Board is essentially claiming that Obama was right to lie to us to get us to do what he knew was better for us.
