That's how I've been today. Luckily I am working at home today so I'm a bit more flexible.

I work at home, but still hard to concentrate on coding when I'm listening to debate ~LOL~

UPDATE: Cruz Points Out 'No Consequences' for Those Who Said House Would Never Pass Bill to Defund Obamacare

Cruz said there are no consequences for people in their "deep baritone voices" who said the House would never pass a bill to defund Obamacare. He noted that Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) was not initially on board with the initial group that was in favor of the defunding strategy and has now expressed his support.

Claire McCaskill: Grab popcorn, watch GOP
By: Jose DelReal
September 24, 2013 02:08 PM EDT

Senate Republicans continue squabbling over a controversial strategy to defund Obamacare, and Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) on Tuesday admitted via Twitter she’s enjoying the show.

McCaskill sent out a tweet from the Democratic caucus meeting, admitting that she’d rather be watching the action from across the aisle.

In our D caucus meeting.True confession: I’d rather have a diet coke and popcorn &watch the show that must be going in R caucus today.— Claire McCaskill (@clairecmc) September 24, 2013

I respect everyone here on the forum.  Let me say that I hope Senator Cruz accomplishes something with this effort.  I would love to say all of you were right.  I certainly can't dispute the principles being defended!

Byron York ‏@ByronYork 4m

With Heritage Action, Senate Conservatives Fund, and others pushing, some GOP senators will seek safety in vote with Cruz-Lee...

So in end, vote will probably be closer than it would be if you simply polled GOP senators on their opinion of Cruz-Lee strategy.

Like it or not, this will be an historic speech in his rise to the top of the Republican Party.  Because regardless of the outcome here, he will certainly have his "I told you so!" moment!

Very powerful.  It worked wonders for Rand Paul & the Drones filibuster.  Didn't surprise me that he'd want some face time here too.  They are jockeying for Iowa.

It's like we're watching Dancing with the Stars...Paul vs. Cruz.

UPDATE: Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) echoes many points from his standard speech about how Obamacare makes it tougher for people to live the American dream like Rubio's and Cruz's parents were able to do.

Cruz said that Rubio inspired him and was a "critical national leader" and was there from day one with Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Mike Lee (R-UT) on defunding Obamacare. Cruz also noted that "official Washington" did not think Rubio could get elected to the Senate when he was running against then-Republican Florida Gov. Charlie Crist. Rubio won after running on Tea Party principles but has seen his poll numbers among conservatives and Republicans plummet after his enthusiastic support of the Senate's comprehensive immigration reform bill as a member of the chamber's "Gang of Eight" that wrote it

THAT is virtually the only reason Cruz is doing this.  He wants the recognition and to be anointed a "leading contender" for president in 2016.  His resume is thinner than Obama's was at this point in his career.

We have a changing of the guard at the GOPe. I knew this was going to get traction when the RNC jumped in immediately on this today.. with Paul they waited till late in the evening... not this time, they sent out mass email mailings in support of Cruz almost as soon as he started talking.  People like McCain, Graham, etc., are flailing because they see what they considered their leadership roles in the GOP slipping from their war mongering hands.

I didn't mean to imply that he wasn't passionate about what he was saying.  He could be like Thomas Paine or John Adams.

What I see is somebody taking Rahm's advice, and not letting a good crisis go to waste.

It's not in motion, Lando.  The outcome is foreordained.  Cruz seems to champion causes he knows he can't win in order to convince his followers of his principle.  He did NOTHING to advance his cause with the House Republicans by attempting to shame them into a vote, admitting he's going to lose in the Senate, then turning right around and DEMANDING that the House vote to fund each government department singly.

He backed himself into a corner, so now he has to fight like hell (or at least LOOK like he is fighting like hell)  in order to avoid looking like a demagogue.

You do not advance a movement by losing.

Tell that to Winston Churchill, who lost and lost and lost for a decade and still in the Wilderness he would not stay quiet.  He was reviled, particularly after Munich.  Yet it was he to whom Chamberlain had to turn after Poland, and then it was he to whom the nation turned after Norway...he was the one summoned by the King to lead.  Because he was the only consistent voice throughout...through all of his many defeats.
Well, George Lewis told the Englishman, the Italian and the Jew
You can't open your mind, boys, to every conceivable point of view
