Researchers turn carnivorous fish into vegetarians

Three Baltimore researchers have set out to tame a wild fish known to eat anything it can get its teeth on!

Known as Cobia, or Black Salmon, the fish feeds on crab, squid and smaller fish.

But the team of three now say they have turned the carnivores into vegetarians.

Over the course of a four year study, they mixed plant proteins with fatty and amino acids to come up with a combination the meat loving fish would eat.

The findings are crucial for the fish industry.

Many farm-raised fish feed on smaller species which can lead to more being consumed than produced.
